Life is expensive and the biggest expense most people have is their house whether its rent or not. But the problem with the extreme high cost of housing is that there are a lot of people who simply cannot afford the rent for anywhere in their area. That is why section 8 housing was developed it helps those with a low income and a family get housing that they can afford until their income is high enough to be without the extra help.
But just like any government help it is limited there is only so much funding to go around and sadly there are more people in need than there is funding. Because of this there is a waiting list that people sit on for up to a year in some cases.

Now when you do get close on the list they may start to tell you how it works. While you are able to pick the place that you and your family live there are conditions. The first condition is that the apartment or complex must participate in the section 8 program and accept that voucher.
When you find a place that says that they participate you will notice that they have high standards they must live up to in order to keep getting that voucher for the government. This is very good news for the family living there are it means that the living situation will be of quality.
